General
What is ShinePoint?
ShinePoint is a marketplace that connects car owners in Southern California with vetted, independent mobile detailers. Detailers come to you. No shop, no drop-off.
Is ShinePoint available outside Southern California?
Not yet. We're focused on SoCal for now. We'll announce new areas as we expand.
How do I contact support?
Email shinepoint.support@gmail.com or call (213) 534-7417. For anything tied to a specific booking, messaging your detailer in-app is usually fastest.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe. ShinePoint never sees or stores your full card number.
For customers
How much does a detail cost?
Detailers set their own prices, shown up front before you book. You always see the total, including any travel fee, before you pay.
What if I'm not happy with the job?
You'll get before-and-after photos of every job. If something's off, open a dispute from the booking and our team reviews the photo evidence from both sides.
Can I tip my detailer?
Yes. Tips go 100% to the detailer, on top of the service price.
Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Yes, from the booking details screen. Cancellation and refund terms are shown at booking time and can vary by how close it is to your appointment.
For detailers
How do I become a detailer on ShinePoint?
Sign up as a detailer and complete the onboarding wizard. Identity verification, insurance status, your profile, services and prices, and availability. Most of it takes a few minutes.
How much does ShinePoint take?
ShinePoint's platform fee starts at 15% and steps down as the job price goes up. 13% from $100, 11% from $250, 9% from $500, and 7% on anything $1,000+. Tips are 100% yours.
Do I need insurance to sign up?
No, but insured detailers show up when customers filter for insured pros, which typically leads to faster bookings. If you're not insured, you'll acknowledge that during onboarding.
When do I get paid?
Payouts go to your bank account through Stripe after a job is marked complete. You do need to finish identity verification before your first payout goes out.
Can I skip identity verification and finish it later?
Yes. You can skip it during onboarding and finish the rest of your setup. Just know Stripe can't send you a payout until it's done, so it's worth finishing before your first job wraps up.
What does Stripe do with my ID? Does it check immigration status?
Stripe uses your ID only to confirm you're a real person, as required of anyone sending payouts in the U.S. It's not an immigration check, and it isn't shared with ShinePoint or with immigration authorities. If you don't have an SSN, Stripe also accepts an ITIN.
Why is a bank-level ID check needed just to get paid?
It's Stripe's job, not ShinePoint's. When you upload your ID and selfie, it goes straight to Stripe, and ShinePoint only ever sees back a status (verified, pending, or failed), never the photo or ID details. Stripe is a licensed payment processor, and U.S. financial law requires anyone sending payouts to verify who they're paying. The same "know your customer" rule banks follow. It's fraud and anti-money-laundering compliance, not a background or immigration check. Stripe also needs a tax ID to report earnings to the IRS, same as any employer. Most people use their SSN, but anyone without one can use an ITIN (a tax ID the IRS issues regardless of immigration status) instead. So it doesn't shut anyone out.
How do I get an ITIN?
File Form W-7 with the IRS. You'll need to prove your identity and your reasons for needing an ITIN. Usually you just say you're self-employed or planning to earn U.S. income. Processing usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. For help, visit irs.gov/itin or talk to a tax professional.
